RHS Tatton Flower Show was our 7th and final RHS show of summer 2019, and what a show it was. Hot on the heels of Hampton Court, Tatton Flower Show took place over 5 glorious summer days from 17th – 21 July 2019. Set in the beautiful parklands of the Tatton Park estate in Cheshire, the show boasts 340 exhibitors and receives approximately 80,000 visitors each year. Home to the RHS National Young Designer competition, introduced in 2009, and the Back to Back Gardens, the show has demonstrated a commitment to innovation and ideas over the years, wrapped up in a carnival atmosphere. Tatton is a very family-friendly show, with a Ferris wheel, free face painting and lots of activities to keep little ones entertained. A favourite with families this year was the Bug Hub, home to talks and activities entirely based around creepy crawlies.
RHS Tatton Flower Show holds a special place in our hearts at Ixia Flowers as the show where we cut our teeth as exhibitors and earned a Silver medal for our Floral Royalty exhibit in the Flower School in July 2018. This year we were over the moon to be awarded a Gold medal for our Bloom Burst exhibit, designed to illustrate the excitement of receiving a box of Ixia flowers. The design featured a 2.5m high floral firework exploding from a custom-built Ixia box, complete with LED lights and suspended floral sparks. The design also featured the boxed flower designs sent out during the summer months. Developing the commitment to remain foam-free, as at Chelsea Flower Show, the exhibit was made entirely without the use of floral foam, with stems worked into water showcasing a variety of floral techniques.
This was also the first year we offered demonstrations on the Flower School stage, demoing how to effectively arrange a box of Ixia flowers for maximum vase life and visual effect, and we were once again delighted with the warm response we received.
We were also thrilled to enjoy more trade stand success, receiving another 4-star award for our efforts to transform a 3m x 3m exhibition space into a beautiful living room, bursting with Ixia flowers. We could not have asked for more for our final show of the summer. As ever, we were welcomed by a very warm and exceptionally talented group of florists and would like to extend our thanks to the wonderful people who have supported us along the way.
As this concludes our RHS summer blogs, we would also like to say a huge thank you to the RHS for the opportunity to introduce our passion to the flower-loving public. There is a huge team which makes sure these incredible events go off without a hitch, and it has been our privilege to work with such dedicated and talented individuals.
Roll on next summer!
